SDG Impact Mentors: Call for Applications

UNA-Canada is seeking a diverse group of 20 SDG Impact Mentors (SIMs) to take part in its Generation SDG, a youth-led project with the goal to activate civic engagement through the creation of volunteer initiatives that promote impactful service opportunities in Ottawa and the surrounding regions.

Through empathy-based and leadership skills training, 60 SDG Ambassadors, aged 14-18, are being equipped to develop and implement projects that respond to pressing issues in their local communities. These talented youth will collectively empower 600 of their peers to take action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Each SIM will be paired with three SDG Ambassadors working on three different projects, to support them throughout their journey.

Participation will combine:

  • voluntary attendance at one of our two-day training workshops in the fall and celebratory summit in February 2020.

  • an estimated 2–3 hours of monthly consultations (or as needed) with three SDG Ambassadors until the summit.

Who can apply?

SDG Ambassadors will be addressing diverse community challenges from climate action to gender equity to reconciliation awareness. Through UNA-Canada’s Green Corps, International

Development & Diplomacy Internship, Green Spaces, Active Citizens programmes and network of partners, Mentors will be recruited from various educational and professional backgrounds including, but not limited to, project management, community outreach, entrepreneurship, resource acquisition and strategic partnership.

Additionally, mentors must be:

  • between 18 to 30 years of age

  • located in Ottawa, Gatineau, Montreal and surrounding regions
