Who Are We

In partnership with Environment and Climate Change Canada, by providing up to 80% wage subsidies to employers across Canada, Science Horizons  supports post-secondary graduates in gaining relevant and meaningful work experience in positions related to environmental science, technology, engineering and mathematics sectors (STEM).

These employment and training opportunities protect the environment and/or the adoption of clean technology.

In order to reflect Canada’s rich diversity, Science Horizons partners with employers interested in hiring youth who identify as :

  • Visible Minorities

30 hours/week minimum

New hires after April 1st, 2022

Programme Overview

  • All placements must be in a STEM field and protect the environment and/or the adoption of clean technology, but the position itself can be a non-STEM job. 

​

  • Up to 80% wage subsidies and up to $20,000.
     

  • Placements last between 6 and 12 months.

​

  • Wrap-around Services are available up to $5,000.

    • ​Can include 

      • Training and Skills Development​​

      • Transportation

      • Childcare/Family Care

      • Additional Supports

​

  • Last day of placement funding is January 31st, 2023. Exceptions may apply.

​

  • Funding is available on an extremely limited basis. 

​

  • Priority will be given to employers interested in hiring youth who identify as Indigenous, as living with a disability or as a visible minority. 

​

  • One placement per employer.

​

  • No deadline to apply. However, placement funding is subject to availability.
