cross-cutting theme throughout the consultation.
The purpose of this consultation iss to help
prepare the Government of Canada for its

consultation will also serve to assist Candadian
youth representatives attending the World Youth
Forum of the United Nations System in Braga,
Portugal from August 2-6, 1998. |

Description: For the second year,
Africa Refugee Day will be celebrated in Canada.
The aim of this event is to educate the general
public about refugee experiences and camps in
countries of origin and in Canada.A mock refugee
camp will be featured, complete with registration
and food rations, and guides will be on hand to
take visitors through the camp and share their
own experiences as refugees. Singers, dancers and
drummers from African communities will perform
throughout the day. Speakers and a special
dramatisation will convey to visitors other
aspects of living as a refugee. The site will
also be loaded with displays, African art, a
mini-bazaar and other attractions and activities
set up by African community groups and aid and
medical organisations. Some of the ways in which
you can get involved is by putting up a
performance, provide speakers, make yourself
available to the media, mount and staff a
display, provide hard labour, support the event
financially, lend out equipement or anything else
that you can think of. |

Description: Five years after the
World Conference on Human Rights, this conference
is taking place to assess how far we have come in
meeting the obligations undertaken by consensus
in Vienna by states, IGOs and NGOs.
The forum is expected to be a highly focused and
action-oriented international gathering of human
rights organizations and activists representing
as many regions in the world as possible. A
number of important issues will be addressed and
hopefully lead to the adoption of a document to
be handed to the UN, and with action-oriented
initiatives to strengthen the NGO and IGO
network. Foreign Minister Lloyd Axworthy has
agreed to address the opening session.
There is a $200 conference fee and registration
should be done before April 30. |

Description: The masterpiece will
be created by poetry, short stories, artistic
renditions of angels and the greatest sculpture
in the world culminating in a symbol of human
rights and a testament to the nobility of the
peoples of the world. The size of the masterpiece
is 50 feet high by thirty feet in circumference,
standing on a throne of white marble are seven
angels and several larger than life sized animals
in a circle, nine joined frescoes holding up a
painted globe of the world, four gilded and
joined phoenixes with their wing tips above their
heads. Everything will be in full sculpture and
made from wood from around the world. |
