Based out of: New York, USA
Event location: In 70 cities around the world
Brief Description: This event is to draw attention to the precarious situation of the people in North Korea. The country has had two major floodings and a severe drought over the past two years leading to a severe famine which according to World Vision has already cost the lives of over two million people. The only way to prevent one of the worst tragedies of this century is for the outside world to put pressure on the North Korean government and to help the North Koreans survive this famine. Even the Pope John Paul II and the Dalai Lama have expressed their support for the day of fast. The coalition is asking people to help the children and people of North Korea by:
- observing a long-day fast on the 24 of April, donate the cost of the day’s meals to a relief agency, organize a candle light vigil, rally etc, wearing a knotted green ribbon, urging the government to provide more humanitarian assistance.
