Introduction
Hi!
My name is Uma and I am doing a project on environmental
Issues. Environmental issues are something that happens
out of our every day life, which happens in every corner
of our earth. It could be a simple problem as junk and a
major problem like acid rain. Part of the reason I chose
to this project is because problems like those two happen
every day, a small one or maybe a big one but not many people
are aware of these problems, so that is why I chose to do
this project to make others aware. For a example, war, it
is also a big environment issue. Because of war many of
the environment is destroyed especially by the nuclear power
of war. But do people actually worry about the environment?
Well, maybe some might but others are usually concerned
about who's succeeding to win a victory, but after winning
or losing the war who might want to live in a polluted area.
Environmental Issues is just one big subject that others
should become more aware of.
I might
say all this like I do something to actually help, but actually
I am a person who does not care for the environment around
me, that is another part of the reason I am doing this project
to make myself and others aware. Many of the Environmental
Issues are very important to us because if we want to make
this world paradise we have to make small sacrifices or
at least stop from polluting. So if every single human being
in this world would do just their share of making this world
a better place we might have a better view of great environment.

Article 1
The
burning of fuels is acid rain deposition, which is caused
by the ejection of sulfur dioxide and nitrous oxides into
the air from power plants and motor vehicles. This is very
bad for the environmental landscape. This acid problem usually
occurs in North and South America. Acid rain is a significant
global problem.

Air
pollution is the pollution of the atmospere by solid wastes
or by things that can jeopardize human health and the health
of animals and plants. Each year many of the industrially
developed countries produce billions of tons pollutants.
So on an international scene 49 countries agreed in March
of 1985 on a UN convention to protect the ozone layer the
article doesn't actually say where this event took place
in.

Article 3
The
acid rain is currently a subject of a great questioning
because of the international environmental damage it has
caused and blamed on. Acid rain affects things as plants,
objects such as statues, and human health. The Industrial
Emissions are probably the biggest cause of the Acid rain.
In 1988 the U.S along with 24 other countries agreed to
the U.N Long-Range Transboundary Agreement to ratified a
protocol, frezzing the rate of nitrogen oxides emmisions
at 1987 levels. Problems like acid rain happen in many places
like Canada and the U.S, places where there is a lot of
Industrial Emissions. It is a great advantage to those who
live in those countries whoare part of the Agreement, because
they have the least worries on acid rain.

The
environment protection agency in the U.S. is one of the
groups studying this project. They reported on the industrial
releaseof toxic chemicals into the nation's environment,
which affected many people's healh. According to the EPA's
Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) say that by manufacturing
facilities not including power and mining facilities were
continued to decrease toxic emissions in 1992.The pollutants
reported released in 1992 represnted a decease of 35% from
the figure in 1988, which was th baseline year. The article
doesn't actually describe any solutions for this problem,
but hopefully they are working towards one.

The
global warming is the procedure of how the air gets warmer
each year which is usually caused by carbon dioxide, and
the heat gets trapped in the atmosphere. Global warming
affects many things such as plants and human health. That
is why 55 nations came together to sign an agreement to
reduce the carbon dioxide that is in the atmosphere to the
same amount it was in the 1990's. The people who are most
affected dy the global warming are probably the general
public. I think the conference had taken place in London.
Response
Environmental
Issues are a very big concern to the environmental around
us. Here are some of the few solutions to a few problems
for the environment:
- Modern
Agriculture: One way to solve this problem without
using pesticides, is to introduce an animal that feeds
on the pest so the pests won't bother your crops. People
have tried this solution and it even worked for many.
And to stop from getting any more food mountains like
they did in Europe with the butter, which cost nearly
$1.72 million a day store. What you can do for these type
of problem you can stop trying to make more food than
you really need.
- Oil
Pollution: Oil pollution is caused each year
as 3.85 million tons of oil is released in to the ocean's.
Many which are accidental marine transport spills. One
solution you can use for these types of accidents, since
the oceans are very important to for a variety of economic
activities, you can use better containers which are very
tight and won't be able to spill.
- Threatened
Species: This also another problem many are already
aware of, still another solution for this problem is to
reserve these animals which are in danger, which countries
like India have done for the Operation Tiger.
- Nuclear
Power : This is a problem that is very serious
to humans and the environment as well. One solution to
this problem might be to not use it at all since it is
not safe in any way or to make your country an non-nuclear
country, like many countries have done and it had worked
for them.
- Alternative
Energy: This problem is damaging the environment
in a number of ways. One of the best ways to stop this
is try to use as little as possible of non renewable enrgy
sources.
Personal
Solutions!!!
I think
one way you can help the environment surrounding you is
to even if you don't do anything to help at least don't
be part of the problem. But if your one of those people
who want to be part of the solution you can plent of things.
First of you can stop throwing junk anything other than
the garbage and stop others who do as well. You can also
help recycle things like paper so it can be reused. You
can start clubs in your community to let others be aware
and understand what is happeing o our envirment so they
help as well. You can put signs up which say what happens
if do something that will make others aware so they know
what harm can come to the Environment if they pollute. You
can vollunteer in other environment clubs if you won't be
able to form your own club. Another way you can help is
by starting fund-raisers to help other clubs like the UN
(United Nations). These solutions are ony few of the options
you can do to help this world become a better place, so
please help by doing your share.
