Le Canada et l’ONU > Canada at the UN: A Proud Tradition Ce document est disponible seulement en anglais. Canada and the UN: An Investment in the Future Canada has a long history as a respected international actor. An original member of the United Nations, Canada has been deeply involved in the organizations activities for over fifty years, and has taken pride in the UNs considerable success. Canada is also proud of its financial and personnel support for the UN. Canada has played, and will continue to play, a pivotal role in the global community. It was to optimize its effectiveness and to fulfill its role as a responsible world citizen that Canada sought a Security Council seat for 1999-2000. The election of Canada to this seat is an affirmation by the world community that Canadas goal of a strong United Nations benefiting all nations is shared by all. by Rory O'Connor, former Research and Information Officer, updated February 1999 |
