UN Framework Convention on Climate Change
(UNFCCC) Secretariat
An invaluable site for those interested in the Convention -- its
history, its text and on-going negotiations. Includes background
information, products, emissions data, country-specific information,
meetings and workshops, technical papers and press releases. The
site is closely linked with the two other major UN websites covering
climate change -- UNEPs Information Unit on Conventions
and UNs Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Given
its importance, UNFCCC has also established a separate site for
the 3rd Conference of the Parties to the Convention, held in Kyoto

UNs Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)
The IPCC produces papers and methodologies for use by Parties
to the Convention on Climate Change based on its assessment of
scientific, technological and socio-economic information in the
field of climate change. Their website contains reports, technical
papers, press releases, copies of its quarterly newsletter and
other information on its work. English only.

Negotiations Newsletter
Prepared with input from independent scientists, political analysts,
and environmental groups, this is a key monitoring publication
published by CAN (a coalition of non-governmental organizations)
during and covering international climate negotiations. A little
slow due to graphics, this highly informative newsletter provides
detailed, technical coverage for government policy-makers and

Hawaiis Sea Grant Global Change Education
An excellent starting point for finding educational resources
on many aspects of global climate change including greenhouse
gas emissions, ozone depletion, sealevel rise, impact on global
biodiversity etc. The site is a well-organized "final-step"
gateway linking directly to useful and informative resource materials
available on the web including fact sheets, topic overviews, data
sites, lesson plans, and on-line activities. Also has some cool

of Ohio
Another excellent educational resource site on global climate
change issues. Includes a climate change science overview; a list
of common acronyms; definitions of climate change terms; a chronology
of climate change; newsletters; country studies, reports and plans;
information on cutting-edge technologies; and a discussion of
the economic and social impacts of climate change. With minimal
graphics, upload is quick. English only.

Sierra Clubs Campaign on Global Warming
Heavy on frames and graphics in their homepage, but contains a
great deal of information on the causes, effects and solutions
of climate change. In particular, a 106K document entitled Global
Warming: the High Costs of Inaction gives a detailed account of
cause and impact plus a comprehensive plan for dealing with the

UN Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law
of the Sea (DOALOS)
DOALOS is the UN focal point for global developments on oceans
and the law of the sea and acts as the Secretariat for the UN
Convention on the Law of the Sea (which text is available at gopher://gopher.un.org:70/11/LOS/UNCLOS82).
The website focusses on providing both background information
and recent developments on the Convention without the use of graphics
or fancy designs which can slow down uploads. This informative
official site on UNCLOS also identifies and links to all UN players
involved in the Convention. English and French.

International Seabed Authority (ISA)
This is the main site for information on the section of the UN
Convention on the Law of the Sea which deals with organizing,
monitoring and controlling mining activities on the international
seabed beyond the limits of national jurisdiction of coastal States.
Information is well organized, however loadup can be slow as the
site is high in graphics and frames.

The official website of UNESCOs Intergovernmental Oceanographic
Commission provides clear information on their objectives, activities,
