Overall governance of structure and strategic direction of the United Nations Association in Canada is the role and responsibility of the National Board of Directors. The internal governance of the National Office of the Association, however, is the responsibility of the Executive Director in conjunction with the Management Committee. Internal governance comprises issues related to staff and staffing, the management of office systems, the use of existing funds, the delineation of new project and programme areas and the formation of National Office policies. The main goal of internal governance in 2002 is to create an office environment which is open, accountable and ethical. The following priorities are key in order to realize this goal:
