CANIMUN

Clean Talk
The Clean Talk project was developed as a contribution to the UN's International Year of Sanitation (2008). This project raises awareness and builds critical thinking skills amongst Canadian youth to create sustainable solution-based approaches for global citizens lacking access to sanitation. 2008 - ongoing

Model United Nations
A Model United Nations (MUN) is a conference that simulates the activities of specific organs, programmes, committees and agencies of the UN; most MUNs are based on the General Assembly or Security Council. MUNs are an exciting venue for participants to explore the challenges related to working in an International setting. Includes our popular Model UN Sourcebook - a manual on how to organize a MUN.

Model Arctic Council
The Model Arctic Council (MAC) is a simulation of the Arctic Council. MAC allows high-school students, from across the northernmost reaches of Canada and delegations from other arctic countries, to take on the roles of the various parties comprising the Arctic Council and explore topics of vital importance to the arctic from the point of view of the country or organization they represent. 2010 - ongoing

Multimedia & Multiculturalism
The Multimedia & Multiculturalism (M&M) project mobilizes youth internships with media organizations, regional and national roundtables, a knowledge transfer forum and design educational tools on media engagement. Through these activities the project enhances the role media plays in the contribution and inclusive representation of under-represented groups living in Canada. M&M addresses the realities and challenges faced by ethno-cultural racial minority communities in all levels of the general media. 2010 - ongoing

The Ripple Effect

Sport-in-a-Box (SBOX)
The SBOX project inspires young Canadians to use the power of sport to engage with their communities in global issues that affect us all. A legacy of the 2005 UN International Year of Sport and Physical Education (IYSPE), SBOX embodies the spirit of international cooperation that the UN fosters, empowering youth to take local action to address global challenges. An innovative, creative and fun project that uses sport to promote public awareness of relevant issues, SBOX emphasizes the importance of a life-long engagement in sport, physical activity and the appreciation of social-cultural diversity. 2005 - ongoing

United Nations Professional Placement (UNPP) Programme
The United Nations Professional Placements (UNPP) Programme is a self-funded placement programme that offers the opportunity for both young and mid-career Canadian professionals to enhance their skills, field experience and employability in the international job market and gain access to the United Nations network. 2007 - ongoing

For Youth: Equips youth with critical tools that allow them to link local realities to global issues and empowers them to bring about positive global changes

A World Without Weapons
A World Without Weapons: Disarmament Education Programme consists of two resources, a Teacher's Guide and an on-line Student's Manual, to increase the level of knowledge and engagement in disarmament and non-proliferation issues among secondary school students across Canada.
