Canada, Youth, and the Right to Water
Apublic engagement initiative that brings together youth from diverse socio-economic backgrounds around the issue of the Right to Water as a basic human right and necessity. Through experiential learning techniques and diverse participatory research modules, youth from all backgrounds will make local connections to the global realities of the water and sanitation crisis. Canadian, Youth and the Right to Water empowers all Canadian youth to be a stakeholder on the political, social and economical issues surrounding water. Spring 2007 - ongoing

CANIMUN
The Canadian International Model United Nations Conference [CANIMUN] is an annual four-day bilingual event held in Ottawa. CANIMUN is the only bilingual pan-Canadian International Model UN experience for post-secondary level delegates from across Canada and around the world. 2003 - ongoing

Healthy Children, Healthy Communities
Our Healthy Children, Healthy Communities project focuses on the healthy development of Canadian 9-12 year olds. Children (aged 9-12) and child health experts exchange knowledge about social factors that can have a positive or negative impact on their health – factors such as poverty, education, housing, violence, the environment, or racism. In their communities, participants create action plans to ensure that their priorities are included in health initiatives in their schools and communities, as well as at the national and international levels. 2006 - ongoing

HIV/AIDS: It's Time to Act - Mobilizing Young Canadians Around HIV/AIDS
An intra- and inter- national/provincial youth participation and cooperation project that addresses HIV/AIDS in conjunction with the social determinants of health, in order to build capacity to combat HIV/AIDS through sustainable prevention, education and management strategies. The project includes Canadian regional youth forums in 2005-06; 'twinning' partnerships with youth in countries where HIV is endemic; a national youth survey; and participation in the XVI International Conference on AIDS in Toronto in August 2006. 2005-2007

Internship Programmes
The Young Professionals International (YPI) and the International Youth Internship Programmes (IYIP) are employment programmes which are a part of the Federal Government's Youth Employment Strategy. The programmes, implemented and coordinated by UNA-Canada, offer Canadian university and college graduates valuable first paid career related work experiences in a United Nations (or UN-related) setting. 1997 - ongoing

Model United Nations
A Model United Nations (MUN) is a conference that simulates the activities of specific organs, programmes, committees and agencies of the UN; most MUNs are based on the General Assembly or Security Council. MUNs are an exciting venue for participants to explore the challenges related to working in an International setting. Includes our popular Model UN Sourcebook - a manual on how to organize a MUN.

Peacekeeping 50: 1956-2006
2006 marks the 50th anniversary of the Suez Crisis and the world's first designated UN peacekeeping mission. It is a year not only to celebrate and more deeply value Canada's lasting contribution to a more peaceful world, but to encourage Canadians to continue to support peace, development, diplomacy and global citizenship. 2006-07

Pearson's Nobel Peace Prize, 50th Anniversary : 1957-2007
It has been fifty years since a remarkable Canadian - Lester Bowles Pearson - was honoured with the 1957 Nobel Peace Prize for his vision, wisdom, perseverance and skillful success in establishing an international police force to resolve the 1956 Suez Crisis.

A Sense of Belonging
A Sense of Belonging aims to promote diversity and combat racism and discrimination in local communities across Canada through community outreach and public education. UNA-Canada's overall goal is to support participation and opportunities for minority groups and promote fulsome and equal participation in Canadian society. Based on previous successful projects (Integration & Belonging, Youth for Diversity, Youth Forums Against Racism) and identified community action plans.

Sport-in-a-Box (SBOX)
The SBOX project inspires young Canadians to use the power of sport to engage with their communities in global issues that affect us all. A legacy of the 2005 UN International Year of Sport and Physical Education (IYSPE), SBOX embodies the spirit of international cooperation that the UN fosters, empowering youth to take local action to address global challenges. An innovative, creative and fun project that uses sport to promote public awareness of relevant issues, SBOX emphasizes the importance of a life-long engagement in sport, physical activity and the appreciation of social-cultural diversity. 2005 - ongoing

What Kind of World?
For Youth: Equips youth with critical tools that allow them to link local realities to global issues and empowers them to bring about positive global changes
For Educators: Facilitator's package of three lesson plans which aim to teach students the basics of the UN system, human rights, and a number of critical global issues from a Canadian perspective.

A World Without Weapons
A World Without Weapons: Disarmament Education Programme consists of two resources, a Teacher's Guide and an on-line Student's Manual, to increase the level of knowledge and engagement in disarmament and non-proliferation issues among secondary school students across Canada.

Youth of Today, City of Tomorrow
The goal of the project is to utilize a series of research papers commissioned by Western Economic Diversification (WD) surrounding the issues of sustainability that will be addressed at third World Urban Forum (WUF 3). This project will raise awareness and elicit active community participation at WUF 3, while fostering a legacy of understanding in young Western Canadians on human settlement issues and the ability of their communities to address these issues. 2006-2007.
