UN/60: The 60th Anniversary of the United Nations 1945-2005
UNA-Canada is organizing a number of activities, events and short video PSAs to mark the anniversary, and to engage its partners and their constituencies in various regions across Canada in celebrating this milestone. Includes the Global Citizen Challenge.

Integration & Belonging
Integration & Belonging (I&B) is a national initiative focused on youth and emerging community leaders in five cities across Canada - Calgary, Saskatoon, Kingston, Montreal and St. John's. I&B identifies and builds the social capital of Canadian society to encourage cohesion and strengthen our sense of belonging. Includes a resource manual titled Building A Sense of Belonging: A Community Tool for Action. (2004-2005)

Youth for Diversity
The goal of Youth for Diversity was to engage youth from across Canada in diversity and leadership training, network capacity-building, and action through five Regional Forums in Sackville, Yellowknife, Winnipeg, Kamloops and Montreal (Aug 2003 - Jan 2004).

The Rights Stuff
The Rights Stuff project trained groups of young Canadians from diverse backgrounds so that they develop an in-depth understanding of their rights and freedoms as stipulated in the Canadian Charter and are able to run their own workshops on these issues in their schools and communities. Training took place through five regional workshops in Moncton, Yellowknife, Winnipeg, Kamloops and Rimouski (Aug 2003 - Jan 2004).

Refugees: A Canadian Perspective
A set of resource guides for classroom teachers designed to increase the sensitivity of young Canadians to the plight of refugees and to the UN's involvement in refugee issues, as well as of Canada's support for refugee protection and assistance worldwide.

Mosaic
Mosaic is a national directory of success stories of youth-for-youth projects about sustainable development. On Mosaic you can learn more about projects developed by young Canadians who are effectively addressing social, economic, cultural and environmental issues in their schools, communities, provinces and country. Maintained 2002-2003.

Youth & the Global HIV/AIDS Crisis
In their Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS (July 2001), UN Member States declared that young people’s “full involvement and participation in the design, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes is crucial to the development of effective responses to the HIV/AIDS epidemic.” In response, UNA-Canada & Carleton University's School of Social Work produced a Youth Toolkit for Action. May 2002.

Navigating International Meetings - a Pocketbook Guide to Effective Youth Participation
A popular, informative and international pocketbook resource culminating from experiences learned with both of UNA-Canada's recent Youth Agenda 2002 and YFAR 2001 projects. Available in English, French and Spanish.

Youth Agenda 2002
UNA-Canada's two-year project (2001-2002) coordinating a Canadian youth process around, and involvement in, the UN's World Summit on Sustainable Development. Includes INSIGHTS information papers & Expedition Guide of lessons learned & accomplishments of youth working together.

Youth Forums Against Racism (YFAR)
YFAR was an initiative of UNA-Canada launched in recognition of the United Nations International Year for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (2001). The end result of this project was an innovative, long-term, anti-racism education model & manual developed BY youth FOR youth! The KIT is available in PDF format.

Youth International Alumni Association
The site owes its existence to the suggestions of interns themselves who wanted to have a follow-up to their experiences. It is a place where YIIP participants can network with one another, share experiences and knowledge, and check out job opportunities. Maintained 2002-2003.

International Year of Older Persons
The United Nations proclaimed 1999 as the International Year of Older Persons. In order to recognize this, UNA-Canada launched a comprehensive website and produced a Resource Guide which was distributed to all secondary schools in Canada.

50th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
The year 1998 marks the 50th Anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations General Assembly. Produced an Action Guide on Human Rights which was distributed to all secondary schools in Canada.

Lester B. Pearson's Role in the Formation of the UN's Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO) and in Other UN Activities
A research paper & educational outreach in 1997, marking the 100th anniversary of the birth of an extraordinary Canadian who had a remarkable career, both in Canadian politics and in the formation of a new world order which emerged during the final few years of World War II, including the creation of the United Nations organization and its various agencies.
