Kathryn White elected as Chair of WFUNA

Nancy Wildgoose, President of the Board of Directors of the United Nations Association in Canada (UNA-Canada), is pleased to announce the election of Kathryn White, Executive Director, UNA-Canada, as Chair of the Board (called Executive Committee) of the World Federation of UNAs (WFUNA). The leadership change took place at the recent WFUNA biennial plenary in Seoul, Republic of Korea (ROK).

The outgoing President of WFUNA, Dr. Hans Blix, praised the selection of White as a “very knowledgeable and able leader”. White will work with Park Soo Gil of the ROK, the in-coming President, and Bonian Golmohammadi, the new WFUNA Secretary-General based in WFUNA’s main offices in New York, along with other members of the WFUNA ExCo.

WFUNA is the ‘peoples movement for the UN’ with 110 member UNAs around the world. The United Nations Association in Canada was one of the core founders of WFUNA in 1946. UNA-Canada has 20 branches across the country and reaches to millions of Canadians each year to educate and engage on international issues of importance to us all – and in support to an effective and relevant United Nations.
