United Nations Association in Canada is a Key Partner in Music Without Borders Benefit Concert

On the evening of October 21st, Canada's most prominent musicians are banding together to raise money for the United Nations humanitarian work in Afghanistan. The funds raised from ticket sales and a concurrent telethon will go primarily to the UN Donor Appeal, which supports the work of several UN agencies and programmes in Afghanistan and neighbouring countries, including the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, UNICEF and the World Food Program. A portion of the funds from tickets sales will go to benefit the programmes of War Child Canada and the United Nations Association in Canada.

The artists performing at the concert are Alanis Morissette, The Tragically Hip, Our Lady Peace, Barenaked Ladies and Bruce Cockburn. Almost everyone involved with the concert will be donating their services, including the Air Canada Centre, Ticketmaster, Clear Channel Entertainment, House of Blues Concerts Canada, IATSE, North West Security and Catering Solutions.

Steve Mason, Executive Director of the United Nations Association in Canada, will be participating in a press conference with the artists prior to the concert on the 21st. The concert will be aired live on MuchMusic and CBC, on Sunday evening, starting at 9:30 and 10:30 PM respectively.
