Press Releases United Nations Association in Canada Honours Brian Mulroney OCTOBER 25, 2001. The United Nations Association in Canada is holding a gala dinner in honour of former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney at the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto on October 30th. “Mr Mulroney strongly supported the United Nations as an institution and as a focal point through which Canada exerted significant global impact,” said Steve Mason, Executive Director of UNA-Canada. “Among other contributions, he was instrumental in the efforts to bring an end to the apartheid regime in South Africa and was an initiator and co-chair of the 1990 World Summit for Children.” Mr Mulroney will be delivering an address focusing on the United Nations as the cornerstone of Canadian foreign policy from its foundation in 1945 to the present global campaign against terrorism and beyond.
