UNA-Canada Sends Pan-Canadian Delegation to World Model UN in Brazil

18 March 2002 - The United Nations Association in Canada [UNA-Canada] is pleased to announce the selection of five university students from across the country to represent Canada and UNA-Canada's Model UN Programme at the World Model UN Conference taking place in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, from 24-27 March, 2002. The first WorldMUN to be held outside of Europe, the 2002 conference will bring together students from more than 30 countries to engage in the highest caliber of debate and negotiation.

For the first time ever, UNA-Canada has created a pan-Canadian team of five highly qualified Model UN enthusiasts from Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, British Columbia and Nova Scotia. As Team CANIMUN [Canadian International Model UN], they will model Canada's foreign policy at the conference and its various committees. Their participation at WorldMUN 2002 also aims to raise the profile of UNA-Canada's Model UN Programme.

A Model United Nations [MUN] is a conference that simulates the activities of specific UN organs, programmes, committees and agencies. MUNs are exciting venues for participants to explore the challenges and rewards related to working in an international setting.
