On 11 May 2011, UNA-Canada will celebrate the vision, commitment and remarkable achievements of an outstanding Canadian citizen, for Canada and for the world - Mr. Avrim Lazar.

Mr. Lazar exemplifies sterling leadership in the environment and in forestry, both in Canada and at the United Nations. He has consistently showcased how divergent interests and entrenched viewpoints not only each have value, but how that, through dynamic and inclusive discussion and building a sense of shared responsibility and opportunity, through unity of goal and trust, they can often be bridged. By building mutual understanding and respect, his galvanizing leadership and convening power continues to inspire and develop creative models of agreement and participation that build a better and more just global commons, legacy and future.

Join us, along with a robust presence of friends and colleagues, and enjoy cocktails and dinner at the Westin Bayshore's Stanley Park Ballroom, as we pay tribute to Mr. Lazar and mark the UN's International Year of Forests.

Funds raised will support the United Nations Association in Canada youth and education programmes.
