On 23 November 2011, UNA-Canada will celebrate
the vision, commitment and remarkable achievements of an outstanding
Canadian entrepreneur, innovator and humanitarian - Mr. Leslie
Dan, the founder of Novopharm Ltd., a company that grew to be
Canada's second largest manufacturer of safe and affordable generic
medications before being sold to Teva Pharmaceuticals Industries
Ltd. in 2000; Viventia Biotechnologies Inc., a company dedicated
to the development of cancer medications; and the Canadian Medicine
Aid Programme that provides life-saving medicines to the sick
in the poorest countries.
The evening will honour Mr. Dan not only
for his leadership in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors,
but for his dedication to corporate responsibility, education,
development, human health and philanthropy.
UNA-Canada is delighted to be honouring
such an extraordinary Canadian and global citizen - and his legacy
of successful companies that continues to explore, innovate, excel
and build upon his vision - at a time when the UN and the global
community is celebrating the important achievements that chemistry
and chemical innovation bring to our lives, our communities and
our world.
Join us, along with other global citizens,
leaders, friends and colleagues, and
enjoy cocktails and dinner at the Liberty Grand, as we pay tribute
to Mr. Dan and mark the UN's International Year of Chemistry.
Funds raised will support the United Nations
Association in Canada youth and education programmes.
