Past and Present Canadian Ambassadors to the UN Canada has been honoured with six terms on the Security Council (1948-49, 1958-59, 1967-68, 1977-78, 1989-90, 1999-2000). Due to the nature of the Security Council, several Canadian Ambassadors to the UN were called upon to fulfill further obligations.
