Canada & the UN > Canada on the Security Council (1999-2000) The United Nations and the New Security Agenda
The United Nations Association in Canada is pleased to present this series of papers concerning aspects of The United Nations and the New Security Agenda. The papers were written to stimulate thinking on the evolution of global security in todays shrinking world and, in particular, to highlight how the United Nations has come to address many of these security issues. The papers reflect the thinking of some of Canadas leading academics and specialists in the field of strategic studies. The papers were developed in the context of a small Conference in Ottawa, on May 8th 1998, focusing on The United Nations and the New Security Agenda, organized by the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in conjunction with the United Nations Association in Canada. The United Nations Association in Canada is pleased to have played a role in the production of these useful and stimulating papers. We hope that these papers will prompt the reader to reflect further upon the topics discussed in this publication, and especially on the key role that the United Nations continues to play as we approach the millennium.
