Canada & The UN > Canadians Who Made A Difference

Other Agencies

The United Nations operates a large number of agencies and programmes to assist people. Canadians have served the UN with distinction in many such areas. The following list includes a couple of these individuals.

David Cadman: Actively involved in UNA-Canada at both the local (Vancouver Branch) and the national levels. The primary activist behind the creation of a UN pavillion at Expo 86 in Vancouver. Deeply involved in the enhancement of the status of indigenous peoples in a global context.

Lucien Michaud: Member of the Council of the United Nations University (UNU) since 1992 and Chairman of the Council since 1995.

Betty Zimmerman: Commissioner on the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) International Commission for the study of Communication Problem, the report of which, Many Voices, One World, has become a standard reference work in communications and journalism.
