Programme of Work 2002 > National Office Projects and Programmes

The projects and programmes of UNA-Canada’s National Office are the core component of our programme of work for 2002. The key priorities that underlie all projects and programmes are:

  • ethical and principled project management;
  • transparent and accountable financial management;
  • sound reporting and record-keeping;
  • fostering strong relationships with project funderand partners; and
  • engagement of branches, where applicable and appropriate.

Youth Forums Against Racism Four regional and one national forum on anti-racism, development of a “for youth, by youth” education model. April 2002 Potential for renewal
“Refugees: A Canadian Perspective” Teacher’s Guide and Catalogue Production and distribution of a guide and catalogue of teaching resources on refugees for educators. Distribution and promotion on-going
Booklet: “The Canadian Contribution to United Nations Peacekeeping” Distribution and promotion of educational booklets on peacekeeping On-going. Potential for renewal and expansion
Calendar for the Culture of Peace Maintenance of an on-line calendar of events related to the International Decade for the Culture of Peace June 2002. Potential for renewal
Research and Evaluation Project on HIV / AIDS Research paper and youth action guide on HIV/AIDS April 2002. Potential for expansion.
NGO-Government Dialogue on UN Rapid Deployment A one-day roundtable and associated report on UN rapid deployment. June 2002
Canadian Committee for UNEP Determine the ideal format/purpose of a Canadian Committee for UNEP through consultation and reporting. January 2002. Potential for expansion.
National Survey on UN issues A poll of a selection of the Canadian public on their views on the UN and Canada's role within it. Part of our membership/donor acquisition process. Three times during 2002.

Net Corps Internship Programme Sending skilled IT interns to work in various UN agencies and programmes, funded by Industry Canada Winter 2002 onwards

Kosovo Model UN Project Collaborating with Model UN activity in Kosovo and building capacity so that it is self-perpetuating Spring 2002 onwards
