The goal of fundraising in 2002 is to bring the necessary money into
the organization to ensure that the Association and its existing projects
are adequately funded, with additional undesignated funds available
for new project development and/or building organizational capacity.
The underlying priority is to work towards a situation in which the
Association has an annual stable funding base that enables it to maintain
a consistent level of operations.
The principal planned fundraising activities in 2002 are:
1. Blue Ribbon Campaign
This campaign will be launched in January 2002 in conjunction with two
main partners: Canada Post and the Association of Canadian Chiefs of
Police. The campaign will involve the distribution of blue ribbons which
symbolize peace and cooperation at all Canada Post outlets across the
country. All proceeds raised through the campaign will go to UNA-Canada.
This is the first time UNA-Canada has embarked on such a campaign and
the revenue generated has the potential to be significants.
2. Direct Mail Programme
The Direct Mail Programme is UNA-Canada’s method for attracting members
of the Canadian public to become donors and members of our Association.
It consists of three separate types of mailings: membership renewal,
letters to existing donors and members on specific relevant issues and
acquisition mailings to attract new members and donors. In 2002, there
will be two membership renewals, four specials and three acquisitions.
3. Gala Dinner 2002
UNA-Canada will host another annual gala dinner in the summer or fall
of 2002. The guest and host are yet to be confirmed.
4. Corporate Membership
In 2002, UNA-Canada will evaluate the benefits and costs of establishing
a corporate membership category, and work towards further engaging corporations
in our work, as appropriate.
