Programme of Work 2003 > On-Going Focuses Engaging Children and Youth 1. To increase the engagement of a broad spectrum of
Canadian youth in UN and global issues.
2. To empower Canadian youth to become active in areas of international concern. 3. To promote the inclusion of Canadian and international youth in policy development and governmental/non-governmental consultations. 4. To increase the ability of educators to teach about global and UN issues in Canada. 5. To support youth-driven processes and initiatives on international issues. 6. To assist Canadian youth to work for UN programmes and agencies. 7. To engage youth in the governance structures of the Association. In 2003, the Association will build on its successes of previous years and attempt to realize the above objectives through: *Youth-focused and youth-driven National Office projects. *National Office projects and programmes which focus on educators. *Branch activities which target youth and/or educators. *Encouraging youth participation in all planned workshops, roundtables and consultations. *Building strong partnerships with youth-led and youth-focused organizations. *Maintaining a prominent role in the Network of National Youth Serving Agencies (NYSA) and participating in their youth engagement project. *Making youth a key focus in new project development. *Increasing youth membership in UNA-Canada. *Continuing the youth position on the National Board of Directors and working towards a Youth Advisory body. *Encouraging Branches to include or maintain youth in their governance structures. |
