Human Development Report 2001 The 2001 edition of the Human Development Report, published by UNDP, which examines how technology networks are transforming the traditional map of development, expanding people's horizons and creating the potential to realize in a decade progress that required generations in the past, was released on July 10. The media focused almost exclusively on the Canada`s drop from first to third place on the Human Development Index but the meat of the Report offers a timely and provocative analysis of the potential of biotech and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for developing countries. The full Report is available on the UNDP website (www.undp.org) or it can be ordered from UNA-Canada (price of $35.95, plus postage and GST). |
