If you are a regular Liaison reader, then you have certainly been following the formation of the Canadian Youth Summit Team as part of the Youth Agenda 2002 project. This is a group of twenty young Canadians, all very active in their own communities, who have been brought together by UNA-Canada to initiate youth participation in the preparations for the World Summit on Sustainable Development to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa in 2002. In fact, as of this September, the one-year countdown to this monumental world event will begin! The Youth Summit Team has been hard at work with strategic preparations and will be meeting from August 16 to 20th, outside of Montreal, to finalize their action plan. This includes a media campaign, educational initiatives, and a review of policies and political processes, all to be interfaced with official UN Preparatory Meetings throughout the year ahead. Keep yourself well informed of this exciting youth-led initiative
