Farewell to Silvana

It was not without difficulty that we found ourselves saying "Goodbye" to a special member of our UNA family, Silvana Mansour.

For the past seven years, Silvana has served the organization extremely well in a wide variety of capacities. Her most recent position was Administrative Assistant/Office Clerk. Unfortunately in the recent down-sizing, her position was eliminated.

On behalf of the Staff and all of the volunteers, we would like to sincerely thank Silvana for all of her fine work with the Association and wish her every success in all of her future endeavours. Her graciousness and pleasant personality will be missed.

New Automated Telephone System

As of mid-November, the phone system at National Headquarters of UNA-Canada will be fully automated. The caller will be presented with a short series of menus in French and English, that will direct calls to the relevant areas of interest. To assist those calling the National Office and wishing to speak to someone in particular, the following list has been compiled. It describes the various positions of the people working here and gives their extensions so that reaching them should present no difficulty.

Harry Qualman, Executive Director Extension 223
Joan Broughton, Director of Information Extension 230
Angus Archer, Special Adviser to the Board for Corporate Outreach & Special Projects Extension 222
Jacinthe Morin, Finance Officer Extension 256
Shirley McColgan, Bookkeeper Extension 234
Lynn Broughton,Donor Liaison Extension 228

The Honourable David MacDonald, Chair - Global Network on Food Security Extension 255

We also have a large number of volunteers working for us who can usually be reached at Extension 224

Congratulations to all the Branches

UNA-Canada would like to congratulate the Hamilton, National Capital Region, and Toronto branches for their excellent and informative Newsletters. We are delighted to learn that the Quebec branch participated in a display of artistic works on themes related to the International Year of the Eradication of Poverty, and that Saint John held a noon rally on the same day with Senator Erminie Cohen as a guest speaker. Congratulations must also go out to Victoria, Kootenay and Saint John for their activities on World Food Day. We congratulate all the branches for your flurry of activity over the past few months and always appreciate receiving news about what you are up to.
