Internships > About the International Youth Internship Programme (IYIP) - 1997-2007

UNA-Canada's International Youth Internship Programme (IYIP) seeks to provide young Canadians, also referred to as Junior Professional Consultants (JPCs), with:

- an opportunity to work and interact in an international environment
- a "hands-on" work experience to enhance their employability
- an opportunity to learn about the United Nations and to establish a valuable network of contacts with UN-related agencies and organizations.

UNA-Canada has provided more than 250 young Canadians with international and domestic placements over the past 10 years (1997-2007). Here are some of the locations and countries our participants have been placed:

In 2007-08, this programme was financed by Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA)'s International Youth Internship Program through the Federal Government’s Youth Employment Strategy.

In previous years, other federal departments also financed JPC's, including Foreign Affairs, Health Canada, and Human Resources & Skills Development Canada.
