Reports to: President & CEO

Compensation: $55,000 - $63,652 per year

Summary

The Programme Manager will be responsible for supporting three key UNA-Canada posts - they will coordinate the International Internship Programme for University Students and the UN Youth Delegate Programme. This will include maintaining accurate project records, ensuring timely and respectful communication with participants and partners, and coordinating the contributions of UNA-Canada support. They will also manage UNA-Canada’s youth employment training and subsidy programme including the science and technology internship programme (STIP). This will include supporting youth from equity deserving communities in securing meaningful employment through the provision of wage subsidies in the natural resource sector.


Key Deliverables:

The Programme Manager is expected to:

  • Work with UN agencies to implement Global Partnership Agreements including the drafting of job descriptions and other key documents; 

  •  

    Work with employer partners to identify meaningful work opportunities in the natural resources sector, including clean tech;
  • Ensure regular communication with HR staff and internship supervisors in UN agencies and employer partners;

  • Ensure the tracking internships and UN delegations and associated timelines;

  • Manage the application and opportunity matching process for interns and delegates;

  • Maintain timely communication with prospective interns, delegates and, where relevant, university and employer partners;

  • Organize pre-departure training for internships and delegations;

  • Ensure the delivery of mandatory training to STIP participants;

  • Provide interns and delegates with regular updates, support and documentation;

  • Hold regular check-in meetings with interns during placements;

  • With the President & CEO, support the negotiation of new partnership agreements with universities, UN agencies, employer partners and other programme partners;

  • Develop and monitor the projects budgets, including issuing invoices and tracking payments;

  • Prepare regular updates and reports on programme progress and oversee capturing of, and recording lessons learned, challenges encountered and promising practices to consider and share with UNA-Canada teams; and;

  • Conduct any other activities related to the effective and efficient implementation of the project, and as requested by UNA-Canada’s President & CEO.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

Relevant qualifications include:

  • Minimum of 3-years experience working in programme / project management in youth engagement or employment;

  • High level of organization and ability to manage multiple competing tasks with a small team;

  • Strong budget management skills;

  • A record of successfully engaging with youth and other stakeholders;

  • An understanding of human resource principles and tools including job descriptions, resume writing, job matching, and professional development;

  • Strong attention to details and ability to work with a high level of accuracy, discretion and diplomacy;

  • Experience working for a non profit, charity, or Indigenous or government organization is desirable;

  • Experience in the natural resource sector is desirable;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
